Global Smartphone Market Growth in the year 2021

This year’s growth of 7.5% to 1.35 billion smartphones to pre-Covid levels was reported by the market research firm Canalys. Supply chain issues are expected to continue into 2022, the report stated.

The top five global brands are Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo, with Samsung holding a 20 percent share of the market. A total of 1.37 billion units were shipped back in 2019 prior to COVID-19, compared to 1.35 billion units shipped in 2020. The number of units shipped in 2020 will be 1.26 billion.

Global Smartphone Market Growth

According to Canalys, Samsung had a 20% market share in the smartphone market, making it the most popular brand. Compared to the company’s 2020 shipments, Samsung shipped 274.5 million units, an increase of 19 million. In 2021, Apple shipped 230.1 million units and had a 17 percent share of the market. This represents an increase of 22.9 million units over the company’s 2020 shipment total of 207.2 million units. Apple’s global smartphone market share grew by 11% in this period.

With 191.2 million shipments in 2021, Xiaomi ranked third on the global smartphone market, trailing only Samsung and Apple. After that, Oppo received 11% of the stock, while Vivo received 10%. In 2021, Oppo shipped 145.1 million OnePlus smartphones, while Vivo shipped 129.9 million units, according to a Canalys report.

For the first time since COVID-19,’ many vendors delivered their best performance in 2021′, Canalys analyst Sanyam Chaurasia said.

More than one percent year-on-year growth was also reported in Canalys’ report on global smartphone sales in the fourth quarter, with 363 million smartphones shipped. In the fourth quarter of 2021, Apple shipped 82.7 million units and had a market share of 23%.

As a result, Samsung came in second place, with a 19 percent market share and 70.5 million units shipped during the most recent quarter. A market share of 13% and 45.4 million shipments in the last quarter kept Xiaomi in third place. Oppo came in at number four, while Vivo came in at number five in the same rankings.
