Samsung has officially announced the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini. The phone had already shown up in various leaked images over the past few months so it was only a matter of time before it was officially unveiled. Let’s look at the key features of this new Android smartphone.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini has a polycarbonate plastic body that measures 124.6 x 61.3 x 8.9 mm and tips the weight scale at 107 grams. It has a compact and lightweight design which makes it easy to operate and handle with a single hand. It is also quite attractive and has a premium feel to it.
The phone has a 4.3 inches Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 540 X 960 pixels which gives it an impressive pixel density of 256 ppi. It is a multi-touch display and supports up to 16 million colors. Samsung has also added its Adapt Display technology which automatically adapts the screen brightness and contrast according to the surroundings.
The handset is equipped with a dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor running at 1.7 GHz, Adreno 305 GPU and 1 GB of RAM. It also comes with 8 GB of internal memory and a microSD card slot which allows you to use externals cards of up to 64 GB. Although the hardware package isn’t as powerful as compared to its big brother, the phone will deliver a powerful performance at all times. The battery inside the phone is a 1900 mAh standard Li-Ion unit which can be removed if required.
The phone rolls out with an 8-megapixel rear-facing autofocus camera and a 1.9 megapixel front-facing camera. Users will be able to capture high quality still images and full HD videos with the primary camera whereas the secondary camera can be used for video calls and self-portrait mode shots. Samsung has also added a host of other features like Sound & Shot, Panorama Shot, HDR Mode, Face detection, smile shot and much more in the camera interface.
Operating System :
Like the flagship, the Galaxy S4 Mini also comes loaded with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean skinned with Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface. It also includes many of the GS4′s innovative features like Air View, Story Album, Group Play, S Translator, S Health, S Voice Drive, S Travel and WatchOn. Other than that, users can download additional Android apps from Google Play or the Samsung Apps store.

Samsung has not provided any information regarding the pricing and availability of the device. However, the company will be showing off the phone on June 20 at an event in London where more details are likely to emerge.
